Harding girls top Ursuline


Kourtney Williams led the 74-67 overtime victory for the Raiders.

WARREN — Kourtney Williams scored 19 points, including key points in the final quarter and overtime, and also grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Warren Harding to a 74-67 victory over Ursuline’s girls basketball team Saturday.

Williams’ two free throws with 25 seconds left in regulation pulled the Raiders (7-4) into a 61-61 tie. Then she hit seven of Harding’s 13 overtime points to help sew up the victory.

Kamela Bender led Harding with 20 points and six steals while Andrea Baldridge added 17 points with six assists and Jasmine KIrkland 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Jaleesa Beverly tallied 24 points to lead Ursuline (5-4), while Victoria Miles had 12.

Archbishop Wood 51,
Boardman 41

PICKERINGTON — Boardman was outscored in the first three quarters before rallying somewhat in the final period, but the Spartans didn’t have offense enough to overcome Archbishop Wood of Philadelphia. Pa., in the second day of the Pickerington North Tournament.

Archbishop Wood (7-1) enjoyed a balanced scoring attack led by Ashley Robinson with 16 points, while Alyssa Parsons chipped in with nine and Rosie Tarnowski and Taylor Peltzer eight apiece.

Courtney Schiffauer led Boardman (6-4) with 17 points while Darryce Moore had nine.

The Spartans will play Louisville (Ky.) Mercy today at 3 p.m. in their final game of the tournament.

Canton Central Catholic 68,
Mooney 43

CANTON — Erin Smith scored 23 points and Canton Central Catholic outrebounded Cardinal Mooney 33-15.

Mooney (6-5) was led by Katie Hughes with 12 points and as many rebounds while Dayna Daltorio added nine points. Central Catholic (5-5) also got 15 points from Chris Andorka, who also added eight rebounds.

Brookfield 55, Columbiana 34

BROOKFIELD — Morgan Bonekovic scored 22 points and pulled down 18 rebounds to lead Brookfield to the championship in its holiday tournament.

Kelly Jones added 13 points for the Warriors (7-1) who jumped out to a 19-8 first quarter lead and were never threatened.

Katie Douglas paced Columbiana (5-5) with 16 points.

In the consolation game Erie East defeated West Middlesex 45-33.

Canton McKinley 62, Salem 37

SALEM — Canton McKinley had little trouble against Salem as the Bulldogs led from start to finish.

Orlandriea Kirksey led the Tigers with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Porsche Poole added 14 points.

Salem was led by Brittany Ritchie with 12 points while Amy Scullion added 11

Sebring 45,
Heartland Christian 25

SEBRING — Julia Grimsley had 12 points and five steals while Jill Bragg added eight points and 11 rebounds to lead Sebring, which opened a 27-12 halftime advantage.

Megan Allcorn also had eight points and Taylor Nanna four with four assists to aid the Trojans.

Erin Letarte had eight points and Laura Wolbert seven for Heartland Christian.

Reynoldsburg 47,
West Branch 37

GARFIELD HEIGHTS — Carlisla Mukllins scored 17 points, including five 3-point goals to lead Reynoldsburg (9-2).

Amanda Stiffler pace West Branch with 11 points.

Reynoldsburg opened up a tight game by outscoring the Warriors (5-6) 17-11 in the final quarter.
