Couple faces charges of endangering

YOUNGSTOWN — A South Side couple was arrested on child-endangering charges after police said they found their daughter with open wounds to her face and a chipped tooth.

Tasha N. McClendon, 30, and Johnny J. Favors, 51, of 137 E. Lucius Ave., were arrested around 5 p.m. Friday after a child welfare check. The couple’s 5-year-old daughter told police the couple had beaten her with a belt and brush.

The child was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

The girl and her 10-year-old brother were placed in the care of an aunt while Mahoning County Children Services investigates.

The couple were in the Mahoning County Jail on Friday night, officials said.
