Youngstown records two more homicides

YOUNGSTOWN — Two men were found shot to death in the 400 block of Almyra Avenue on the South Side around 9:35 p.m. Thursday.

The first victim, John M. Jones Jr., 30, of Sherwood Avenue was found lying on the sidewalk, said Rick Jamrozik, a coroner’s investigator. The second victim, Garrick V. Willis, 29, of East Avondale Avenue was found in the trunk of his 2000 Cadillac a few doors away from Jones.

Police were sent to Almyra for reports of gunfire. Jamrozik said both victims were shot multiple times. They are the city’s 38th and 39th homicides of the year.
