Friend’s boyfriend accused of damaging house

YOUNGSTOWN — A Matta Avenue woman said she thinks her house was trashed and a tropical fish named Red killed by a close friend’s boyfriend after a domestic dispute.

Police who went to the Matta house Wednesday night found the side door kicked in and a large muddy footprint on the door.

A large container of bleach was dumped all over the couch and mantel in the family room. A 36-inch TV in the room was demolished and small items on the mantel destroyed.

Glass sections of a curio cabinet were broken in the dining room, and the fish tank that held Red was smashed.

Upstairs, the suspect took new children’s clothing items, put them in the bathtub and poured bleach on them.

A 27-inch TV in a bedroom was smashed, as well as glass shelves and headboard. The force of whatever blunt object was used left a hole in the wall behind the headboard, police said. A digital camera was taken but jewelry left alone.

Police made contact with the Matta woman’s close friend to file a domestic violence report. No arrests had been made as of Thursday.
