Couple buy back their baby: a Corvette

COLUMBUS (AP) — It’s a reunion of couple and Corvette in Columbus, where a Maryland husband and wife have bought back the 1986 sports car they regretted giving up for a family car 19 years ago.

Jerry Apicella, 46, had held on to the original registration for the $29,000 silver Corvette with a glass roof that he and wife Carol had custom-ordered. He felt sentimental when he came across the paperwork last Saturday at his home outside Baltimore, so he tracked the ’Vette down to a Columbus car lot using its vehicle identification number.

The Apicellas arrived at Denney Motors on Thursday and found the car looking new and with only 42,000 miles on the odometer. Jerry Apicella says it aged better than he has.

The couple bought the it back for $9,800.
