Upcoming Kwanzaa celebrations
Locations and times for other Kwanzaa celebrations.
Saturday: 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Buckeye Elks Youth Center, 421 1/2 North Ave., Youngstown, sponsored by Nu Valley Black Chamber of Commerce. The event will feature black vendors, prizes and refreshments.
Sunday: 4 p.m. at Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Parkcliffe Ave., Youngstown, where the Rev. Lewis W. Macklin II is pastor. The church is sponsoring the event with ministerial interpretations of the seven principles, music, choirs and cultural expression.
Tuesday: 5:30 p.m. at the McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road, Youngstown, sponsored by the Harambee Coalition and Associated Neighborhood Centers. The Harambee Youth Organization will present music, dancing and poetry. There also will be black vendors and a community feast. Participants are asked to bring covered dishes for the feast.
