Teen threatens mom with knives
YOUNGSTOWN — A 14-year-old boy whose mother told police he threatened her with two steak knives was taken into custody at their Lexington Avenue home Christmas morning and then sent to St. Elizabeth Health Center because he cut his left wrist in a suicide attempt, reports show.
The mother, who waited outside the home for police, said she had an argument with her son and told him to go to his room because he had been disrespectful. She said he broke the front door glass and then grabbed the knives, threatening to kill her and then himself.
Officers looked through the front door and saw the 220-pound boy, a knife in each hand, pacing in the living room. The boy put the knives down when told to do so by police. The case has been turned over to the Family Investigative Services Unit.
