Deadly weekend on Ohio highways
COLUMBUS — Ten people died on Ohio roads over the Christmas holiday weekend, two more than in 2006, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The reporting period for holiday crashes was five days long, beginning Friday and continuing through Christmas Day on Tuesday.
In 2006, when Christmas fell on a Monday, the patrol counted accidents that occurred over a period of three and a-quarter days. Troopers say five of the 2007 holiday fatalities involved people who either weren’t wearing safety belts or didn’t have a belt to buckle.
