Christmas tree recycling set up


YOUNGSTOWN — Christmas trees, wrapping paper and greeting cards may be recycled in multiple convenient locations, the Mahoning County Green Team (recycling division) has announced.

The trees, to be chipped into mulch for community landscaping programs,will be accepted on weekdays from today through Jan. 31.

Among the tree recycling locations are Boardman’s Maple Avenue composting site, Austintown Township Park, Canfield’s Messerly Road fire station, the Poland road department on Clingan Road and Roosevelt Park in Campbell.

All sites will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Boardman’s location, which will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Struthers is providing curbside pickup. Residents must remove all decorations before recycling the trees. For a full list of tree recycling locations, call (330) 740-2060.

The county’s regular recycling dropoff sites will accept wrapping paper and greeting cards in brown paper bags, today through Jan. 15. No ribbons, bows or foil wrap will be accepted.
