Two thieves con Youngstown woman, 83

YOUNGSTOWN — An 83-year-old woman, who lives in the 1400 block of East Boston Avenue, was the victim of a man she thought was a good Samaritan. The woman told police she let the man, who called himself John Lake, into her home at about 8:09 p.m. Saturday after he knocked at her door and told her black smoke was coming from her house. The man said he was a furnace repairman and could help. While the woman waited in her kitchen, the man stole $100 from her purse along with her identification, Social Security card, credit cards and $400 that was in a dresser drawer, according to police.
