Thanks for your support

Thanks for your support

EDITOR:

During this season of gift giving it is appropriate that Goodwill Industries offer our appreciation to the community.

Your generous monetary gifts, donations of usable clothing and household items and purchases in Goodwill stores help to provide vocational rehabilitation services, employment and other services, such as Radio Reading and preschool vision screening in our community.

Your donations of over 3.5 million pounds of clothing have allowed us to employ nearly 300 people. We have placed approximately 40 people with community employers. Radio Reading serves over 1,100 people annually and our vision screening has served 3,500 preschoolers.

Thanks to you, our employees have earned over $3.3 million in 2007. You have helped us to remove barriers to employment for people with disabilities and/or disadvantaging conditions.

We look forward to your continued support as we create independence and self-sufficiency.

Happy holidays.

Bless St. Elizabeth’s

EDITOR:

Recently, I was helped at St. Elizabeth Health Center. I went in through emergency. The efficiency was commendable. Each and every person did their specific job with courtesy and compassion. Even though my situation was not critical, I was taken care of in timely order. I have been to this hospital many times over the past 20 years, for several operations and the wonderful birth of my son.

He also has been in this fine hospital many times for serious medical situations. Quick emergency, great doctors and Angel nurses have always worked together to miraculously pull him through his extreme situations. Not only did they take care of my son, but also had concern for me. With warm compassion, both the doctors and especially the nurses helped me understand and accept what might or might not happen. The wise clergy there was also very helpful explaining impossible decisions with much compassion. These people are in my prayers always.

Thank God and all these caregivers, my son pulled through. He is a serious stroke victim and will undoubtedly be back there again, but I wouldn’t have him anywhere else. Thank you everyone on the 4th floor for taking such good care of Robert.

Forum folks stepped up

EDITOR:

Recently I spent two days as a guest of Forum Health, first at the Emergency Room at Beeghly, then as a patient on 2 West at North Side Hospital.

In light of the bad press Forum has received lately, I want you to know that I had a very good experience while in their care. The nurse’s aides, the transport personnel, the folks in food service, those working in X-ray and the nurses on the floor were all so kind to me. They were very patient with this slow moving patient.

The overall attitude of the staff at both Beeghly and North Side was very pleasant. I would not have expected that when you consider their job situation.

I hope that the residents of the Mahoning Valley continue to have a choice when they need health services.
