These people were recently sentenced in Mercer County Common Pleas Court:

David Tompkins, 22, of Crawford Drive, Hermitage, placed on two years’ probation and ordered to make restitution for retail theft. Tompkins stole $33 worth of gasoline Nov. 18, 2006 from Sheetz, 1650 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, according to court documents.

Ray Alexander, 22, formerly of Galbreath Street, New Castle, sentenced to six to 12 months in jail followed by two years’ probation for criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking. In February, he took coin boxes with an unspecified amount of cash from the Reynolds Laundry, 3676 N. Hermitage Road, Pymatuning Township. He also did more than $500 damage to a pop and game machine at the laundry.

Ronald Harden, 39, of Curtis Street, Sharon, sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months in jail for access device fraud, a felony. He was given 144 days credit for time served. In June, he used an ATM card belonging to a 64-year old woman 11 times to buy $698 worth of goods and services without her permission.

Steven Lynn, 26, of Superior Street, Grove City, sentenced to 122 days to 18 moths in jail, then given 122 days credit and paroled for simple assault. On July 30, 2006, Lynn punched a man in the head, knocking him to the ground and then kicked him in the head several times, causing him to lose consciousness at the Landmark Bar, Old Ash Road, Springfield Township. During the same incident, he punched a woman in the face, causing her bruising and swelling, court documents state.

Loretta Newland, 32, of Orangeville Road, Greenville, placed on two years’ probation and ordered to make restitution for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Court documents state that in 2006, Rowe took an automobile from a North Otter Street, Mercer, man without making payments as promised or returning the vehicle valued at $350.

Anthony Baxter, 37, of Leslie Street, Sharon, sentenced to one to 23 months in jail followed by two years’ probation for felony retail theft. Court documents state he stole two packages of hair clippers valued at $25 from Family Dollar, 100 S. Water Ave., Sharon, in March 2006. The crime is a felony because it was his third or subsequent offense.

Lonnie Buchanan, 62, of Cochranton, sentenced to one to two years in state prison, which was then suspended for two years’ probation for indecent assault. Court documents state that on three occasions from May through August 2001, Buchanan had indecent contact with an 11-year-old girl in Deer Creek Township.

Randy Daye, 19, of West Cornell Road, Mercer, was placed on one year’s probation for theft by unlawful taking. According to court documents, Daye, a student at Mercer High School at the time, stole an electronic balance valued at $247 from a science classroom there on Jan. 4, 2007.

Eric Edinger, 22, of Lake Road, Hadley, was sentenced to 60 days to 23 months in the Mercer County Jail for theft by unlawful taking or disposition. Court documents state he stole a .22-caliber handgun from a Lake Road, Sandy Creek Township residence in January 2006.

Paul Ferguson, 28, formerly of North 10th Street, Sharpsville, sentenced to 30 days to 20 months in the Mercer County Jail followed by two years’ probation for felony criminal trespass and a misdemeanor count of terroristic threats. Court documents state Ferguson’s wife had a protection- from-abuse order against him and that on March 31, he followed her to a residence in Forrest Brooke Trailer Park, Lackawannock Township, broke a large bedroom window there and threatened to kill several people who were inside with her.

James Grekon, 25, of Morton Avenue, New Castle, sentenced to 52 days to 23 months in the Mercer County Jail for criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft. Court documents state that on July 28, he conspired with another man to steal a $624 television from Wal-Mart, 1275 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage.

Tina Gruver, 42, of Quinby Street, Sharon, placed on two years’ probation for felony retail theft. She stole a $4 bottle of Tylenol from Family Dollar, 100 S. Water Ave., Sharon, on March 4, according to court documents. The crime is a felony because it was her third or subsequent offense.

Jason Harvey, 24, of Conneaut Lake, Pa., sentenced to three to 23 months in the Mercer County Jail followed by two years’ probation for criminal attempt-theft by unlawful taking, a felony. Court documents state that on Dec. 25, 2006, he took copper wiring valued at more than $2,000 from Damascus Tube, 795 Reynolds Industrial Park Road, Pymatuning Township

Leighland Johnson, 22, formerly of East Philadelphia Avenue, Youngstown, sentenced to six to 23 months for acquiring or obtaining possession of a controlled substance, a felony. On Jan. 24, according to court documents, he obtained 60 OxyContin tablets at Walgreens, 900 E. State St., Sharon, by using a fraudulent prescription.

Willis Swartz, 66, of Nych Road, New Wilmington, sentenced to one month to one year in jail with work release for open lewdness, a misdemeanor. Court documents state that on Oct. 26, 2005, while operating a vehicle in the 400 block of McCleery Street, Sharon, he pulled alongside a female pedestrian, exposing his genitals and masturbating.
