BBB warns of fraud in
college bowl ticket sales
YOUNGSTOWN — The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers to look out for fraudulent sellers when shopping online for tickets to college bowl tickets. BBB has discovered a scam involving a secondary seller of tickets for the national championship game between Ohio State University and Louisiana State University. The scammer, who was using eBay, asked that payments be wired in advance through Western Union.
The BBB advised buying tickets through an online auction only if a seller has a long, continuous history of satisfied customers. It also advised using a credit card or PayPal, which offers some protection and potential reimbursement. Never pay with a cashier’s check or wire money to a seller, the BBB said.
When buying from a merchant, look for the BBBOnLine seal. Only the event, the venue and the event’s authorized ticketing company can guarantee tickets bought online are valid, the agency said. It advised scrutinizing tickets closely for any inaccuracies or alterations.

Study: Gen Y workers
are savvy, ambitious
NEW YORK — The new generation entering the work force may be more ambitious and savvy than their parents, according to a recent study.
Generation Y — broadly defined as those born between 1979 and 1999 — are interested in saving for retirement, finding a solid health care plan and establishing partnerships with their bosses, says a joint study between Yahoo! HotJobs and Robert Half International.
A poll found that 60 percent of Gen-Yers want to hear from their managers at least once a day, and 46 percent consider their career prospects better than previous generations. Nearly three out of four said they will likely go back to school to obtain another academic degree or certification.
“This just shows that this generation is really plugged in, and that they have different access to information than the baby boomers did,” said Tom Musbach, managing editor of Yahoo! HotJobs. “They are prepared and clued in.”
The survey was conducted by an independent research firm and included 1,007 Web interviews of employed people ages 21 to 28.
