Maple Leafs 2, Panthers 1, OT

SUNRISE, Fla. — Pavel Kubina scored a power-play goal 34 seconds into overtime to help the Toronto Maple Leafs snap a three-game losing streak. Kyle Wellwood also scored for Toronto, which improved to 2-3 on its franchise record-tying, seven-game road trip. Tomas Kaberle and Mats Sundin each had two assists. Olli Jokinen scored for the Panthers, which had won three straight. Vesa Toskala stopped 29 shots for the Leafs. Tomas Vokoun made 29 saves for Florida. With Richard Zednik in the penalty box for slashing, Kubina beat Vokoun with a slap shot from the right point. Toronto almost broke the 1-1 tie midway through the third period, but Vokoun made a spectacular pad save on Nik Antropov’s one-timer off Matt Sundin’s pass.

Blues 4, Bruins 1

BOSTON — Former Bruin Brad Boyes continued his strong start with his 21st goal and Manny Legace made 24 saves, leading St. Louis. Lee Stempniak, Jamal Mayers and Keith Tkachuk also scored for the Blues, who won for just the second time in six games. It was the teams’ only meeting this season. Zdeno Chara had a power-play goal for the Bruins, who started the week hoping to close the gap on Ottawa for the Eastern Conference’s top spot, but lost their third straight game and finished their homestand 1-4.

Islanders 3, Capitals 2, OT

UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Richard Park’s goal 3:43 into overtime lifted New York. Park took Radek Martinek’s pass in the lower left circle and beat Olie Kolzig with a wrist shot for his sixth goal of the season, giving the Islanders consecutive wins for the first time since Nov. 16-19. Miroslav Satan and Bill Guerin also scored for the Islanders, and Rick DiPietro stopped 14 shots in his 106th NHL victory. That moved him into a third-place tie with Kelly Hrudey on New York’s career list.

Blackhawks 4, Senators 3, OT

OTTAWA — Patrick Sharp scored the tying goal early in the third and set up Jonathan Toews’ goal in overtime. lifting Chicago. Sharp, who misfired on a second-period penalty shot, scored 38 seconds into the third to draw Chicago even at 3. Toews redirected Sharp’s pass beyond Ray Emery 2:08 into overtime to finish with a goal and two assists. Martin Lapointe and Brent Seabrook also scored for Chicago in Martin Havlat’s first game in Ottawa since he was dealt to the Blackhawks on July 10, 2006. ATLANTA — Slava Kozlov and Marian Hossa each scored in the shootout to lift Atlanta. Atlanta, coming off a 3-2 victory over Eastern Conference-leading Ottawa on Thursday, has won three straight after losing four in a row and eight of 11. The Canadiens, who were tied for fifth in the NHL with 23 road points, had won four straight and five of six away from Montreal. Kozlov gave the Thrashers a 1-0 lead with his 15th goal. Hossa had two assists. Atlanta’s Kari Lehtonen, who made 32 saves in regulation and three in overtime, stopped the two attempts he faced in the shootout.

Hurricanes 4, Lightning 1

TAMPA, Fla. — Ray Whitney scored twice and had an assist in the third period, and Cam Ward stopped 29 shots to lead Carolina. Whitney gave Carolina a 2-1 lead with a goal from the left circle during a delayed penalty call at 9:31 of the third. The left winger, who has a three-game, goal streak, added an empty-netter with one minute left.

Sabres 6, Flyers 5, SO

PHILADELPHIA — Buffalo’s Ales Kotalik scored the only shootout goal and the Sabres beat the Flyers to extend their season-high winning streak to six games. Kotalik, who also scored in regulation, beat goalie Martin Biron to the glove side for the winner.
