hTool aims to make
short work of scraping

Everyone knows the aggravation of scraping ice off a windshield.

The IceDozer promises to make the task a little less odious.

The scraper is designed to take advantage of the fault lines in ice and cause it to break apart.

It has a flexible blade that molds to the windshield’s curve and a two-fisted, ergonomic design modeled on a carpenter’s wood plane, which takes advantage of the strength and motion of the upper body instead of using just the wrists.

An upgraded version called the IceDozer Plus incorporates a detachable scraper and brush designed for small areas such as side mirrors, as well as the IceNotch for clearing ice off windshield wipers.

The IceDozer and IceDozer Plus have suggested retail prices of $17.95 and $19.95, respectively.

They’re available at www.innovationfactory.com and Amazon.com as well as from the Herrington catalog.

Book gives tips on
painting techniques

The right paint finish can elevate a wall to a design statement.

Paint-maker Benjamin Moore shares the latest in decorative paint techniques in “Paint Style: The New Approach to Decorative Paint Finishes.”

The book provides instructions on finishes such as glazing, stenciling and faux finishing and offers plenty of ideas for using those techniques to create an updated look. Photos of rooms created by some of the country’s top designers and architects are included to give the reader design inspiration.

“Paint Style” is available for $26.95 in softcover on the Web site www.benjaminmoore.com (click on “Online Store” on the bottom of the home page).

After the new year, it will be available from Benjamin Moore retailers, the company says.
