Springfield wins, 70-67, at M. Ridge


MINERAL RIDGE — Nate Schuler scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds Friday to lead the Springfield High basketball team to a 70-67 victory over Mineral Ridge. Todd Kibby scored 14 points and had six rebounds as the Tigers rallied by outscoring the Rams 25-18 in the fourth quarter. Jarrod Lewis had 13 points and Eric Lipp 11.

For the Rams, Cody Graham had 21 points while Nick Miele had 11 points and five rebounds.

South Range 54, Lisbon 47

LISBON — The Raiders (2-5, 1-5) were paced by Travis Wisler with 27 points as they notched their first ITCL Tier One win while handing the Blue Devils their ninth loss in a row and sixth in the league. Arlan Bailey and Todd Padurean of the Blue Devils scored 21 and 14 points.

United 63, Crestview 51

HANOVERTON — The Golden Eagles (5-2, 5-1), ahead 29-26 at intermission, started to pull away as they outscored the Rebels (3-5, 2-4) 17-14 in the third quarter of the ITCL Tier One game. Taylor Phillips and Jimmy Phillis had 15 points apiece for the Golden Eagles. McCavitt Carter added 10. Jakob Leon scored a game-high 23 points for the Rebels.

Lowellville 82, Jackson-Milton 21

LOWELLVILLE — By the end of the third quarter, the Rockets (3-5, 3-3) were cruising 66-15 in the ITCL Tier Two game. Dante Abbas sparked the Rockets’ balanced scoring attack with 18 points. Jim Sudon, Dave Minnie and Anthony Schiraldi added 16, 12 and 11, respectively. John Rovnyak pulled down 10 rebounds and Sudon had five assists and three steals.

Southern 48, Western Reserve 46

BERLIN CENTER — Ethan Blatch made a goal from halfcourt at the buzzer for the Indians in the close game. Western Reserve was ahead, 46-45, when Blatch let loose from 45 feet out. Tyler Baker had a game-high 19 points and Baker also had 11 rebounds for Southern. Blatch finished with 16 points. Reserve missed a pair of one-and-one free throw attempts in the final minute to hurt the Blue Devils’ chances. Junior point guard Justin Lude had 15 points, while junior Zach White added 11 points for Reserve (3-5). Nate Lude collected 11 rebounds for the home team.

Wellsville 56, Leetonia 44

LEETONIA — Jeremy Carter scored 20 points and his brother, Zane, added 13 for the Tigers. For the Bears (3-6, 1-5 ITCL Tier Two), Andrew Trummer scored 14 points and contributed 18 rebounds and four blocked shots. Caid Todd had eight points and three steals.
