CAMPBELL — Christ Community Church, 531 Neoka Drive, will present “A Christmas Tale” at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
Lessons and carols
WARREN — Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St. N.E., will hold its festival of lessons and carols at 4 p.m. Sunday, which was rescheduled because of weather. The service will blend Scripture, visual presentations and choral/orchestral music. The Rev. Donna L. Maree, rector of Christ church, will officiate. Singers are from Christ church choir, St. Luke’s, St. Andrew’s, St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic, All Saints Community and First Presbyterian in Youngstown.
The choir, directed by MaryJane Kolic, will present Vivaldi’s “Gloria in Excelsis,” among other selections. Kathleen Miller, organist, will be accompanist. Orchestra members are John Venesky, trumpet; Becky Bickel, oboe; Julia Peterson, flute; and string quartet with Mariana Szalajac and Jared Craig, string bass, and Stephen Smith, Justyn Harrimen and Ian Rohm, percussionists.
There is no charge. An offering to benefit Terry’s Cupboard will be accepted.
First Friday Club
BOARDMAN — First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will meet Jan. 3 at Antone’s, Market Street, with Jerry Goebel presenting “Catholics and Youth Culture.” Luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $15. Sunday of hope
YOUNGSTOWN — Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Parkcliffe Ave., will celebrate a Kwanzaa event with biblical interpretations of the seven principles during a worship service at 4 p.m. Dec. 30.
The church is partnering with Youngstown Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity in this Sunday of Hope program. The endeavor is to assist St. Jude Hospital in raising funds for research.
Speakers will be the Rev. Kenneth Simon, New Bethel Baptist Church; Ernest Ellis, Antioch Baptist Church; the Rev. Gena Thornton, St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, Cleveland; the Rev. Solomon Hill, Centenary United Methodist Church; the Rev. Willie Peterson, New Birth Kimmelbrook Church; and the Rev. Ernest Walker, Ebenezer Church of God in Christ. Kwanzaa, which is observed as an African-American festival, is from Dec. 26-Jan. 1.
Watch night service
YOUNGSTOWN — The congregations of Metro Assembly of God and Spanish Evangelical Church will join Holy Trinity Missionary Church, 505 Parkcliffe Ave., for Watch Night celebration services at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 31. Pastors Al Yanno, Rolando Rojas and Lewis Macklin will share words of faith. Holy Trinity is located at 505 Parkcliffe Avenue.
