Local man’s choir wins
NEW YORK — Youngstown native Le Shawn Tucker helped his choir win first place in “Clash of the Choirs.”
The winner was revealed at the conclusion of the four-part NBC holiday mini-series Thursday night.
Tucker, who sang a solo during his choir’s performance Thursday night, was on the choir headed by singing star Nick Lachey. The choir, which represented Lachey’s hometown of Cincinnati, beat those of other two singing stars in the final round: Patti LaBelle’s Philadelphia choir and Blake Shelton’s Oklahoma City, Okla., choir.
The victory by Lachey’s choir means that Children’s Hospital of Cincinnati will receive a check for $250,000 from the show.
Tucker, a 2002 graduate of Chaney High School in Youngstown, is a senior at Wright State University in Dayton.
