Dawson’s late 10 lead East; Chaney falls to Harding


Hubbard and Newton Falls posted TAC victories.

LISBON — Briana Dawson scored 10 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter Thursday as the East High girls basketball team rallied for a 59-54 victory over Beaver Local.

Brittney Taylor also scored 14 points for the Panthers (5-5), who outscored Beaver Local 19-12 in the fourth quarter. Monet Oliver added 11 points.

Sam Mobley scored 21 points to lead Beaver Local (4-2) while Abby Allen had 10.

Harding 59, Chaney 38

WARREN — Aundrea Baldridge scored 18 points and had four steals to lead a balanced attack for Harding (5-4).

Kourtney Williams chipped in with 13 points while Jasmine Kirkland had 11 plus 14 rebounds and Kamela Bender 10 points and two blocks to bolster the Raiders.

Clenisha Pless had 11 points and Alyssa Sykes nine for Chaney (2-4).

Hubbard 50, LaBrae 39

LEAVITTSBURG — Junior Brittany Bullock had 14 points and classmate Abbie DeLuco added 11 for the Eagles, who took a 14-9 lead after the first eight minutes, then extended it to 26-17 at halftime.

Senior Angelica Pugh had a game-high 20 points for LaBrae. Pugh also had 10 of her team’s 32 rebounds. Hubbard had 30 rebounds.

Newton Falls 53, Champion 36

CHAMPION — Kelsey McGregor fired in 21 points to lead Newton Falls (4-3, 2-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference).

Jaci Dash added 10 points and Blaine Chapman nine to aid the Tigers.

Erika Stevens had 22 points for Champion (0-9, 0-4 TAC).

Lowellville 52, Jackson-Milton 24

LOWELLVILLE — Alison Grapevine scored 23 points on 9-of-9 shooting from the field and added 14 rebounds to pace Lowellville (4-5, 4-1 ITCL Tier Two), which took a 35-18 halftime lead.

Jamie Hynes added nine points and four assists for the Rockets while Whitney Palumbo had eight points and five assists.

Alyssa Chine scored 10 points for Bluejays (1-8, 0-5).

McDonald 62, Sebring 40

McDONALD — Senior Emily Dolsak had 21 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and five steals as the unbeaten Blue Devils dominated the ITCL Tier Two contest.

Dolsak made 11 of 14 free throws, including 8 of 10 in the first half for the winners, whose next game is Jan. 3 when the Blue Devils entertain Mineral Ridge.

Also for McDonald, Ari’Anna Williams, a junior, added 14 points, while Joh’Vonnie Mosley, a sophomore, had 12.

Jill Bragg’s 16 points paced Sebring.

Western Reserve 49, Southern 28

BERLIN CENTER — Sophomore Claire Ferrando had 13 points and six rebounds and senior Ellie Sanders also had 13 points for the winners. Jess Keeler was another six-rebound Blue Devil for Reserve (3-8, 3-2).

H. Tulbatt led Southern with 13 points.

Leetonia 49, Wellsville 30

LEETONIA — The Bears (8-2, 5-1 ITCL Tier Two) jumped out to a 27-10 halftime lead and the Tigers (3-6, 2-3) couldn’t recover.

Lynsie Davis sparked Leetonia with 17 points. Deidra Currie added 12. Brittany Bissell led the Tigers with eight points.

United 69, Crestview 56

HANOVERTON — Crestview rushed out to a 23-17 lead in the first quarter, but the Golden Eagles (7-2, 5-1 ITCL Tier One) bounced back and were ahead 44-41 heading into the final period.

Maggie Sell led United with 20 points. Magie Miller and Brittany Courtney each had 14 and Chelse Laughlin finished with 12.

Chelsea Bowker took scoring honors for the Blue Devils (7-2, 4-1) with 31 points and she grabbed 11 rebounds. Shanelle Davner added 13 points.

Springfield 54, Mineral Ridge 49

MINERAL RIDGE — Ashley Davis had 14 points for Springfield (4-5, 2-4 ITCL Tier One), which had a 31-20 halftime lead.

Rachel Kennedy had nine rebounds for Springfield, which made 11 of 17 free throws to 6 of 12 by Ridge. Springfield connected on 19 of 32 goals.

Heather Reinhart had a game-high 18 points for Mineral Ridge (0-8, 0-5).

Ashtabula St. John-Paul 74,

Youngstown Christian 52

YOUNGSTOWN — Mallory Johnson scored 24 points, Jamie Kapferer 20 and Kayla DeGeorge 18 to spark Ashtabula St. John-Paul (5-2, 3-0 East Suburban Conference). Nicole Pawlaski added nine points.

Kristi Cooper had 12 points and Sara Bell 11 to lead Youngstown Christian while Chelsey Tate delivered nine.

Lordstown 49,
Heartland Christian 29

LORDSTOWN — Junior Brianna Blodgett scored a season-high 23 points and the 5-10 center also grabbed 21 of Lordstown’s 45 rebounds.

Karly Gibbs had seven assists and six steals for the Red Devils (5-3)

Erin Letorte’s seven points paced Heartland.

Farrell 69, Kennedy Catholic 32

FARRELL — The Steelers (6-1) limited Kennedy Catholic to six points in the second quarter and six in the third in building a commanding 57-22 lead.

Tieshia Stubbs sparked the Steelers with 30 points and she pulled down 15 rebounds. Cloe Stewart added 17 points and she had 10 steals.

Caitlin Lenhart led Kennedy Catholic with 14 points.
