Artist Chris Yambar to appear at gallery

NILES — Comic book creator and pop artist Chris Yambar of Youngstown will appear at the Art Outreach Gallery in Eastwood Mall from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to painting more than 2,000 pop art images since 1987, Yambar has written for several popular comic book titles, including “Bart Simpson Comics,” “The Simpsons Comics,” “Radioactive Man,” “I Dream of Jeannie” and “Mister Magoo.”

He also has created his own comics, including “Mr. Beat,” “El Mucho Grande,” “Fire-Breathing Pope,” “Suicide Blonde,” “Itsi Kitsi-Happy Adventure Cat,” “Spells,” “Life Maxx,” “Misfits” and “Suckulina-Vampire Temp.”

Yambar will sign copies of his comics, as well as coffee mugs and other items.

The first 300 people who attend will receive a free comic.

The gallery is along the concourse between Macy’s and J.C. Penney’s.
