Synth fuel good news for Columbiana County

WELLSVILLE — U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson, D-6th, and John Baardson, president and CEO of Baard Energy, have delivered good news for the holidays:

• Construction on the $5.5 billion synthetic fuel plant could begin as early as next summer.

• The U.S. Air Force on Tuesday certified certified another plane to use a 50-50 mixture of regular and synthentic fuel.

• That the proposed production that will use waste wood during the burning process would help national goals to reduce carbon dioxide.

• Repeated the awarding announced Wednesday of a $984,000 federal grant to study the injection of carbon dioxide produced at the proposed coal to liquid fuel plant.
