Bridge demolition starts 3 PM today over Route 11

AKRON – The Ohio Department of Transportation plans to begin the emergency demolition work on the west side of the Niles-Vienna Bridge over southbound State Route 11 at 3 p.m. today, December 20.

This $25,000 emergency work is the result of the SR 11 crash that occurred on December 18 and is for the removal of damaged steel beams on the Niles-Vienna bridge over southbound SR 11.

ODOT anticipates re-opening the southbound lanes of SR 11 in less than one week. However, the Niles-Vienna bridge will remain closed, until further notice.
