NBA ROUNDUP Tuesday’s game

Kings 106, Nets 101

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — John Salmons scored a career-high 31 points and passed to teammate Francisco Garcia for a decisive 3-pointer to lead Sacramento. Brad Miller added 23 points and Ron Artest had 20 for the Kings, who got their second road win of the season. Their first came last Friday at Philadelphia. New Jersey, which has lost six of its last seven games and eight of its last 10 at home, was led by Richard Jefferson’s 36 points. Vince Carter scored 15 points and rookie Sean Williams had eight blocked shots, tying a team record set in 1981 by Mike Gminski. Salmons, whose previous career high was 27, has emerged at shooting guard in the absence of Kevin Martin, who was leading the team in scoring when he went down with a right groin injury two weeks ago. He scored six points in a stretch early in the fourth quarter in which the Kings outscored New Jersey 10-1 to take a 91-85 lead. The Nets cut the lead to 100-99 in the final minute before Salmons took the ball from the left wing, drove the lane and kicked it out to Garcia, who hit a 3 from the opposite wing. After two free throws by Jefferson, Miller made two with 13 seconds left to give Sacramento a 105-101 lead.
