Fire causes $35,000 to Green home

GREEN — A Tuesday afternoon fire of unknown origin killed a Shih Tzu dog and caused an estimated $35,000 damage to a ranch-style home at 10700 state Route 46 between Green-Beaver and Calla roads here.

Green Fire Chief Todd Baird said no injuries were suffered in the blaze, the cause of which is under investigation. He said the dog likely died of smoke inhalation. The occupants were not home at the time of the fire, which was reported at about 4:30 p.m. The owner of the house is Tim Wilson of Canfield.

Baird said fire damage was confined to the bedroom in which the fire started. The rest of the house sustained heat and smoke damage, he said.

The Green Fire Department received mutual aid from firefighters from the Cardinal Joint Fire District and Beaver and Damascus fire departments.
