MEN

Westminster 77, Pitt-Greensburg 62

GREENSBURG, Pa. — Sophomore forward Ryne Murray scored a game-high 24 points for the Titans by shooting 9-of-10 from the field and 5-of-6 from 3-point range. Murray grabbed a game-high nine rebounds as the Titans out-rebounded the Bobcats, 34-29. Murray also recorded a team season-high six steals. The Titans (2-8) shot 52.8 percent from the field including 11-of-22 from 3-point range, while Pitt-Greensburg made 45.6 percent (26-57) from the field. Freshman guard/forward Andy Timko (McDonald) bucketed a career-high 17 points and snared eight rebounds for Westminster. The Titans went on a 10-4 run to take a 15-point, 58-43 lead with 12:18 remaining and kept their lead in double figures the rest of the game. Westminster led by as many as 19 points (67-48) down the stretch. Darnell Hampton led the Bobcats (3-6) with 16 points. Other double-figure scorers for the Titans included senior guard Craig Hannon (Union) with 10 points to go with four assists, and senior guard/forward Chauncey Whitlow (Wilson) also with 10 markers.

Kutztown 69, Slippery Rock 65

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Junior forward Erroll Robinson scored a team-high 12 points as The Rock fell in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" action. Junior guard Darnell Johnson and junior forward Jamar Scales each added 11 points for SRU (2-6). Robinson and junior post player Joseph Vines each had six rebounds to lead The Rock, while Johnson, redshirt freshman post player Jade Burka and freshman post player Cory Somerville each added five rebounds. The Rock and Kutztown battled on even terms throughout the game, which featured seven ties and two lead changes. After the score was tied four times and the lead changed hands twice in the first half, Kutztown held a 29-27 lead at intermission. The Rock never led in the second half, but did manage to knot the score on three occasions, the final one a 39-39 deadlock with 13:42 left to play. Kutztown scored the next four points and did not relinquish the lead thereafter. SRU shot 42.9 percent (24 of 56) from the field, 37.5 percent (6 of 16) from 3-point range and 68.8 percent (11 of 16) from the foul line en route to its second straight loss.

WOMEN

Kutztown 67, Slippery Rock 60

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Sophomore guard Julie Molloy (Grove City) scored a game-high 20 points in a losing cause. Molloy was one of three players to record a double-digit scoring total for The Rock (4-4). Sophomore guard Nikki Presto added 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals, while sophomore post player Haley Gaidosh chipped in 10 points. Junior guard Amanda Nero (Lowellville) had eight points and three assists. The Rock jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two minutes of action before Kutztown evened the count at 5-5 with 16:37 left in the first half. The teams battled on even terms for the next seven minutes and were tied at 15-15 before the hosts rode an 18-5 run in the final nine and a half minutes to a 33-20 halftime advantage. The Golden Bears (6-3) held a 15-point, 53-38, lead with 9:20 left in the game before The Rock roared back to make it a game. SRU scored 11 unanswered points in the span of four and a half minutes to trim the deficit to four points (53-49) with 4:45 left to play, only to see Kutztown close with a 12-5 run. The Rock shot an icy 28 percent (7 of 25) from the floor in the first half before hitting a red-hot 51.7 percent (15 of 29) in the final 20 minutes to finish with a 40.7 percent efficiency. SRU was 10 of 12 (83.3 percent) from the foul line and hit 28.6 percent (6 of 21) from 3-point range.
