TRAFFIC COORDINATOR

Job description

Work involves:

Planning, organizing and directing the work of traffic engineering personnel engaged in the collection and analysis of traffic flow data.

Preparing plans and recommendations for the function and operation of traffic routes, the design of traffic control facilities and the application of uniform and effective regulatory warning and information devices to traffic facilities.

Directing personnel in the manufacturing and erection of traffic signs and the marking of streets as well as installing, maintaining and repairing parking meters and traffic signal systems.

Initiating traffic engineering studies and investigating and reviewing the analysis and interpretation of traffic data.

Directing the engineering analysis of traffic accident data and reviewing recommendations on accident prevention measures.

Planning improvements of street and traffic signal systems to expedite traffic movement, conducting long-range studies of traffic flow.

Recommending traffic regulations to the mayor and city council.

Working with public officials and private groups on traffic control.
