Suzanne Savanick of Cortland has been elected as the 2007-08 president of the Ohio Dental


Suzanne Savanick of Cortland has been elected as the 2007-08 president of the Ohio Dental Hygienists’ Association. She has been active for 16 years in the Tri-County Dental Hygienists’ Association and has served the state organization in several leadership positions. Savanick is a 1991 graduate of Youngstown State University, earning an associate’s degree in dental hygiene.

David E. Arnold, chief executive of Family Service Agency, was elected vice president of Family Service Council of Ohio. The council serves as an advocate for state and local policies affecting families and for enhanced family serving systems.

The Heluva Good facility in Youngstown was an award winner in the transportation safety category in safety awards sponsored by the International Dairy Foods Association. Heluva Good’s parent company, Massachusetts-based HP Hood, and its subsidiaries won 22 of the 62 awards presented. Operations were judged on data required annually by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

J.D. Byrider dealerships in Boardman and Warren have been recognized as top performers in the used-car franchise system. They are among 14 stores nationwide to win the President’s Award, the company’s highest honor. Selections are made on customer satisfaction levels and quality of portfolios.

Alexander Heltzel of Miamisburg, formerly of Warren, was the recipient of the 2007 Best Paper in Thermophysics Award from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is a senior engineer with P.C. Krause. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Dayton and his doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas.

Nancy Minghetti of Baltimore, formerly of Struthers, was the recipient of the 2007 Outstanding Service Award from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She has been executive director of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation since 1996.

Two local physicians, Dr. Denise L. Bobovnyik and Dr. Gregory J. Facemyer, have achieved the degree of fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Bobovnyik practices in Canfield, and Dr. Facemyer practices in Youngstown. The degree was conferred to 278 family physicians recently. The honor recognizes family physicians who have distinguished themselves through service to family medicine and ongoing professional development.
