OVI Task Force results announced


The Mahoning County OVI Task Force arrested one impaired driver at the sobriety checkpoint conducted on the evening of Dec 14. The checkpoint was conducted as part of a comprehensive and intense enforcement program to stop impaired driving in Mahoning County. It was held from 6 PM until 10 AM on Mahoning Avenue in Austintown.

Zero Tolerance Blitz Results

Two individuals were arrested for impaired driving during the zero tolerance blitz. It was held from 10:30 PM until 2:30 AM, also in Austintown.

Number of speed citations: 2 Child Restraint citations: 1

Driving Under Suspension: 2

*Felony Arrest: 1

* includes receiving a stolen vehicle (possibly wanted in a rape and robbery case in Youngstown), drug possession (Valium), possession of drug paraphernalia, and summons issued for drug abuse (marijuana).

The Ohio Investigative Unit was also working in conjunction with the OVI Task Force. A 22-year-old man was arrested in the parking lot of the Wedge for public indecency and Noday's Hideaway Lounge, 3713 Oakwood Avenue, was cited for Failure to List the Name of Manufacturer on Original Containers.
