Girl’s mother says coach assaulted her

YOUNGSTOWN — The mother of a Hayes Middle School basketball player has accused the girl’s coach of assault.

Police were called the scene of a game at the school about 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

The woman told police she was returning her daughter’s uniform to the coach when he swore at her and attacked her, grabbing her arm and attempting to strike her.

The pair were separated by onlookers, according to reports.

Both parties were escorted off the premises. Detectives will be investigating, according to police reports.
