Commissioners donate building


MERCER, Pa. — Mercer County commissioners donated a building at 75 Dock St., Sharon to the Community Action Partnership.

CAP is a nonprofit anti-poverty nonprofit agency that has been in operation 42 years.

In addition to administering the Weed and Seed program, CAP is the grantee for the county Head Start program, operates weatherization programs, provides housing counseling and has developed over 100 units of rental housing for special populations.

In other business at their meeting Thursday, commissioners:

UAgreed to pay Nestor Resources, Valencia, $43,897 to revise the county’s Municipal Waste Management Plan.

U Entered into a $260,000 contract with L. Robert Kimball and Associates, Ebensburg, to provide GIS layers and road centerlines as part of GIS mapping of the county. The effort is part of the mandate to upgrade the 911 system.

U Accepted a bid from Shingledecker’s Welding Inc., Franklin, for $332,073 for reconstruction of a bridge in Pine Township. County Engineer Mark Mailler said work is set to begin in April and be finished at the end of July.

U Appointed Black, Bashor & Porsch, Certified Public Accountants, Sharon, to audit the county’s 2007 financial records for up to $46,900 and Children and Youth Services for up to $10,800.
