Wick Recreation Area at Mill Creek Park is now in wintertime fun mode. A snow making machine is keeping the lighted sledding hill covered with a snow base, and the adjacent warming house, complete with roaring fire, snack bar and arcade, is open. The par 3 golf course is also open for cross country skiing. There’s also a hobbit hill for small children to sled on. Wick is at Belle Vista Avenue and McCollum Road on the West Side of Youngstown. Hours are 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. for sledding. Cross country skiing is open during daylight hours, and the warming house is open from 3-9:30 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 9:30 p.m. on weekends.
