Dahlia Society gathers for holiday dinner

CANFIELD — Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society held its annual holiday dinner for members and guests Dec. 8 at A La Cart Catering.

The Vocal Alliance, a barbershop quartet, provided the holiday program. Joyce and David Habeger received the Midwest Dahlia Conference James C. Moore award. Chuck Willet, a MVDS member, also presented a special tribute, the Crushed Dahlia Award, to Randy Foith.

New society officers for 2008 are Randy Foith, president; Kathy Foith, vice-president; Joyce Habeger, secretary; David Habeger, treasurer; and Harriet Chandler, membership chairwoman.

The society will resume monthly meetings Feb. 10, 2008, at the D.D. and Velma Davis Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park. The meetings are open to the public, and all are welcome to attend and learn about growing dahlias.
