YSU centennial effort adds $200K
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University’s Centennial Campaign is $200,000 richer today thanks to a gift from the Marion G. Resch Foundation.
The wife of the late Paul Resch, an attorney and stockbroker with Butler Wick, has earmarked her contribution to provide scholarships to students from Columbiana, Trumbull and Mahoning counties.
Over the years, the Resch Foundation has contributed nearly $1 million to support scholarships for students of YSU, said Dr. George Pugh, chair of the foundation’s board of trustees.
The latest donation bring the university’s Centennial Campaign total to $35.4 million, or about 82 percent of its $43-million goal, said Tony Lariccia, chair of the campaign.
“This is a real happy day,” he said. “This university continues to be the hope diamond of this area and it continues to glisten and shine.”
