Sobriety checkpoint Friday night somewhere in Mahoning County

A sobriety checkpoint and zero tolerance blitz will be held from 6 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday in Mahoning County by members of the Mahoning County Operating Vehicle Impaired Task Force.

The holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year’s is one of the deadliest and most dangerous times of the year due to impaired driving. In December 2006, 1,076 people were killed in crashes involving an impaired driver, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
