Looking for one shooting suspect, Sharon area police arrest another
SHARON, Pa. — The search for one shooting suspect was fruitless, but a specially trained team of police officers didn’t come up completely empty handed.
The Mercer County Critical Response Team arrested Dana M. Roye on Monday at his home on Ravine Place in Sharon.
Roye, 29, is charged with criminal attempt at homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person. He was wanted by Southwest Mercer County Regional Police in a Dec. 5 shooting at McQuaid’s Sunoco on Division Street.
Police said the victim had pulled up to the station for gasoline when silver sedan with Ohio license plates pulled up and someone started firing shots.
The victim ran to the side of the Sunoco building. A cellular telephone in his pocket was hit by a bullet, police said. Police said they found other spent 9 mm rounds on the ground.
According to police, the victim identified Roye as the shooter and believes it was retaliation from an earlier dispute between the two.
Southwest Police had called the critical response team to Farrell on Monday after receiving a tip that another man, Anthony Scott Jr., 19, was inside a Fruit Avenue home. He was wanted on charges of intimidating witnesses and shooting a gun at Negley Street house.
Scott was not found, but the team got a tip that Roye was at his Ravine Street home.
Sharon Police Chief Mike Menster said Roye was arrested without incident by the special team.
Roye was arraigned before District Justice Ronald Antos and his bail was set at $100,000.
