Beaver Local beats Potters in OT

LISBON — Shawn Mercer scored 25 points and Beaver Local pulled away from East Liverpool in overtime for a 71-63 victory Saturday night.

Mercer also had 10 rebounds and six steals to lead the Beavers (1-3), while Zach Zelinsky finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Ethan Russell scored 11 points.

East Liverpool, playing its season opener, was led by Nate Howard with 14 points and Sam Kinsey with 11.

The Potters trailed 36-30 at halftime, but rallied to within 43-42 after three periods. Beaver Local outscored East Liverpool 13-5 in the extra period.
