McDonald’s to help fund
specialty coffee services

OAK BROOK, Ill. — McDonald’s Corp. has agreed to pay its franchisees 40 percent of the expense of outfitting U.S. restaurants to serve specialty coffees after the restaurant owners resisted the hefty new costs. The fast-food chain acknowledged its commitment Friday in releasing a statement of support from a group representing franchisees, who own a majority of its restaurants.

Career Advantage set
to open at new location

BOARDMAN — A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday for the new location of Career Advantage, 4845 Market St., Suite 2. Kim Gabriel opened the Boardman-based business after working with a franchise operation within the staffing industry. She later joined with her brother, Joe Angelo, and opened four other offices in Warren, Hermitage, Pa., New Castle, Pa., and Erie, Pa.

Open house planned
at Canfield pet resort

CANFIELD — A ribbon-cutting ceremony will kick off an open house at 3 p.m. Tuesday for Come Stay and Play Pet Resort, 3150 S. Raccoon Road. The owners are Bill and Darlene Lowery, who are certified pet care technicians and live on the premises. The business has 50 indoor/outdoor runs for dog boarding and facilities for cats. Grooming and training services also are available.
