Home invasion call brings arrest

YOUNGSTOWN — Police responding to a report of a home invasion at 43 E. Earle Ave. around 7:30 p.m. Friday said they found no one in the home but did arrest a man sitting in a van in the driveway after learning he was wanted on drug charges in Warren.

There were two outstanding warrants for Olivero L. Dawkins III, 37, of North Navarre Avenue, Austintown, one for possession of cocaine and the other for possession of hydrocodone. He was taken into custody on the warrants and also charged with obstructing official business.

Police said he gave them several false Social Security numbers when they first tried to identify him.

The 33-year-old woman who reported the home invasion fled to a store in the 1200 block of Market Street to call police. She said she was choked and punched after several men forced their way into her home.

Police said she was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment of her injuries. A man who told police he fled the house with her apparently wasn’t injured.
