Course offered for farm youths

CORTLAND — The Trumbull County Ohio State University Extension 4-H program is offering a course for youths on farm equipment safety.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will earn the certification to legally operate a tractor or farm machinery on any farm.

This course is open to youths age 14 to 16 who will be operating a tractor with more than 20 horsepower. Interested youths over 16 can enroll as well, however. Youths under age 14 can attend, but they will not be able to participate in any driving or skills tests, nor will they receive certification.

The course will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays from Jan. 9 to March 26 at the Banner Farm in Liberty Township.

The course cost of $10 and registrations are due no later than Jan. 8. Contact the OSU Extension Office at (330) 638-6783 for a registration form or for more information.
