Mother jailed after firing a gun during argument with her son

YOUNGSTOWN — Police said a Division Street woman was jailed after she admitted firing a shot from a .45 caliber handgun into the floor of her home during an argument with her 16-year-old son.

Durbin Pagan, 50, told police she and her son got into an argument around 2 p.m. today after she told him to get off the computer. She told police her son threatened to beat her, prompting her to get her husband’s gun and fire a shot into the floor.

She was arrested on a domestic-violence charge and taken to Mahoning County Jail. Her son also was also charged with domestic violence and taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.
