MCDONALD COUNCIL Meeting notes

At their meeting earlier this week, village council members handled these matters:

Heard a presentation from Jonathan Millea of the Trumbull County Planning Commission regarding the start-up of a new Web site as part of the commission’s comprehensive plan for the village. The site would allow better communications between residents and officials, Millea said, and would likely include information about the police and other departments, the history of McDonald and a zoning map. Residents will likely be able to submit taxes and other payments online, he noted. The planning commission would help design and set up the site, estimated to cost the village $5 to $15 per month, Millea continued, adding that his agency is looking for companies to host the site. Millea said he hopes it will be operational by January.

Were told that vehicles used to pick up curbside leaves have been modified to handle snow-plowing and salting village roads. The move is necessary because of the recent change in the weather, although some residents still need leaves to be collected because of the late fall, noted Thomas Domitrovich, village administrator. Anyone who still needs to have leaves picked up can call Domitrovich at (330) 530-5472.

Received a report about McDonald’s annual Christmas festival. Councilman B.J. Farr praised those who offered their support and materials for the Nov. 24 event, including the Lions Club, McDonald Fire Department, area high school students, landscaping companies and volunteers.

Learned that Home Savings and Loan made a $5,000 donation to the village’s community chest. The program is set up mainly to help people in need, Councilman Richard Harvey said.
