Husband says attorney wife disappeared

TOLEDO (AP) — A pregnant attorney who had received suspicious phone calls was reported missing by her husband after she failed to pick up their son at a day care center, police said Thursday.

Karyn McConnell-Hancock, 35, who is six months pregnant, had been having trouble with a client, her husband told police.

Authorities were investigating her whereabouts.

She was last seen at her downtown law office Wednesday morning and had been scheduled to go to the juvenile courthouse that morning.

Her husband told police she didn’t pick up their son later in the day. He tried to call her cell phone, but it was turned off, police said.

One of McConnell-Hancock’s former clients filed a lawsuit against her last week, accusing her of taking money from him that he was owed from an accident settlement.

Police would not answer any questions about the investigation.

McConnell-Hancock is also a former city councilwoman whose father is a municipal court judge in Toledo.
