Delphi unit wins pact
for Sikorsky Aircraft

WARREN — Delphi Connection Systems said it has won a contract to provide electronic relay panels to Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. for the Canadian Maritime Helicopter program. Six relay panels are used on each helicopter to provide switching control for all systems and access to reserve and back-up power. Delphi Connections is a unit of Delphi Packard Electric and is based in Warren.

Bristol-Myers Squibb
plans restructuring

NEW YORK — Pharmaceuticals maker Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. on Wednesday said it would lay off about 4,300 employees and close more than half of its manufacturing plants, part of a broad restructuring aimed at cost savings of $1.5 billion by 2010. The company, whose best-selling product is the anticoagulant Plavix, also lowered its 2007 earnings guidance and said it would spin off its medical imaging business. Bristol-Myers is also reviewing options for ConvaTec, a wound care products supplier, and its Mead Johnson Nutritionals business.

Chrysler reportedly
will lose $1.6 billion

DETROIT — Chrysler LLC Chief Executive Robert Nardelli told a group of employees this week that the company is headed for a $1.6 billion loss this year, according to a person familiar with his statements. Nardelli told a group of engineers and designers that revenue will be less than $63 billion but costs will exceed $64 billion, said the person, who requested anonymity because Chrysler is a private company and no longer has to report its earnings.
