Muth’s game-winner pulls Canfield past Ursuline
YOUNGSTOWN — Adam Muth scored the game-winning basket with about three seconds remaining Tuesday as the Canfield High boys basketball team defeated Ursuline, 45-43.
The Cardinals led by six in the second half before falling behind by three late in the game. Mike Podolsky’s three-point play tied the score.
Matt Keating and Brian Fox led Canfield with 10 points each. Podolsky finished with nine and seven rebounds. John Manzoian made five assists.
For the Irish (0-1), Nick McCartney scored 11 points and had five assists. Jamel Turner scored nine points and had seven rebounds.

Westmont Hilltop 50
HERMITAGE, Pa. — Kennedy Catholic’s two-point lead entering the fourth quarter only increased to five against Westmont Hilltop’s zone defense, but the Eagles came out on top for their first victory.
Each team scored six points in the fourth quarter, as Kennedy (1-1) went into a stall and tried to force Hilltop out. Kennedy led by five with about four minutes remaining.
Kyle Randall had a game-high 25 points for the winners, whose first game was a 74-57 loss to East. In that game, the 5-10 Randall, a junior point guard and resident of Canfield, had 32 points.
Rocky Farmartino grabbed seven rebounds for the Eagles, who are coached by Marlon McGaughy.
Hilltop, a Class AA public school from the Johnstown, Pa., area, made 17 of 34 goals and 10 of 20 free throws.
