Canfield’s ‘D’ stifles West Branch
BELOIT — Pitt recruit Kate Popovec scored 18 points and Jill Halfhill added 12 to lead Canfield, which held West Branch to one point in the second quarter en route to a 60-38 victory in a girls basketball game on Wednesday.
Anokha Padubidri added eight points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinals (3-0), who led 37-14 at halftime. Bryanne Halfhill hit three 3-pointers to finish with nine points.
Amanda Stiffler scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Warriors (2-3).

STRUTHERS — Halle Minchin-Skook scored seven of her nine points in the first quarter as the Wildcats took a 22-8 lead.
Ashley Galbraith added 23 points for the Wildcats (4-0).
