Hiram 97, Franciscan 71

HIRAM — Hiram won its first game of the season behind freshman Chris Roberts, who scored 20 points and had seven rebounds. Mike Staley added 19 points for the Terriers (1-4), while Chuck Williams (Lakeview) scored 16 and Mike McDevitt (Lisbon) had 15. Matt Liedel led Franciscan (1-8) with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Thomas More 96, Thiel 84

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — Joe Herrmann and Devon Adams scored 19 points each for Thiel (4-2, 1-1 Presidents’ Athletic Conference), while Cory Chaffee added 15 and Brandon Mirizio (Kennedy Catholic) 10. Mark Tinklenberg scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds and five assists for Thomas More (4-3, 2-0).

Baldwin-Wallace 65, Mount Union 63

BEREA — Brendan Schuler made two free throws with seven seconds remaining to give B-W a 64-63 lead. Chris Crawford had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Purple Raiders (2-4, 0-2 Ohio Athletic Conference). Chris Switzer and Sam King added 11 points each. Schuler led B-W (3-3, 1-0) with 16 points.

Geneva 79, Washington & Jefferson 69

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Bryan Hill scored 21 points while Zac Northen was perfect from the field, scoring 20 points, and he added five rebounds for the Golden Tornadoes (4-3). Northen made all six of his shots, including one 3-pointer, and was 7-of-8 at the foul line. Matt Blocki had 11 points for Geneva, which trailed 35-30 at halftime but shot 52 percent (15-of-29) in the second half. Albert Varacallo led W&J (3-2) with 22 points.

WOMEN

Thomas More 84, Thiel 46

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — Elysa Farrell (Kennedy Catholic) led Thiel (3-3, 1-1 PAC) with a career-high 18 points while Amber Bodrick (Mooney) finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. Thomas More (6-0, 2-0), ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division III, was led by Jayme Thiem’s 15 points.

Allegheny 61, Hiram 39

MEADVILLE, Pa. — Emilie Simone had 13 points and seven rebounds to lead Allegheny (3-4) in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener. Brittany Bell added 12 points and four assists for the Gators, while Laura Magnelli scored 10. Hiram (1-5, 0-1) was led by Stephanie Zunic (Canfield) with 14 points and Alex Dellas with 12. The Terriers committed 26 turnovers.

Baldwin-Wallace 58, Mount Union 39

ALLIANCE — Ashley Ross scored 10 points to lead Mount Union (3-2, 1-1 OAC), but the Purple Raiders couldn’t recover from an 18-7 run by B-W that ended the first half. Selena E-Budge scored 15 points for B-W (6-1, 1-1), which led 28-19 at the intermission.

Geneva 49, Washington & Jefferson 46

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Geneva (7-0) remained unbeaten by outscoring the Presidents 10-4 over the final 5 1/2 minutes of the game. Allyson Clarke, Lauren Uranker and Michawn Rich all made baskets to give the Golden Tornades a 45-42 lead, then Clarke and Uranker added baskets after W&J twice closed to within one point. Renee Rawding finished with 18 points and nine rebounds for Geneva, and Clarke scored 15. Emily Hays led W&J (5-2) with 15 points.
