Police investigating double homicide on South Side
YOUNGSTOWN — Two South Side men were found shot to death today in a sport-utility vehicle in the 500 block of West Ravenwood Avenue.
Police said the bodies of Julien M. May, 22, and Michael D. Pippin, 49, both of East Evergreen Avenue were discovered at 1:16 p.m. today.
Police said officers were called at 3 a.m. today for a “fight with weapons” on the 500 block of West Ravenwood, and then five minutes later to look for a suspicious green SUV vehicle parked in the area with two people inside it. A minute later, police were called to the area a third time for another “fight with weapons,” but officers determined it was a domestic issue.
Police don’t know if the last call was related to the homicides, according to a report.
A man doing construction work at 542 W. Ravenwood Ave., a vacant house, couldn’t pull into the property’s driveway because the SUV was blocking it, according to the police report. He beeped his horn repeatedly and when he went to look inside the vehicle, he discovered the two dead bodies.
No arrests have been made. The city has recorded 36 homicides this year. There were 32 homicides in the city in 2006.
