POLAND COUNCIL Meeting agenda
Village council handled these matters at its Tuesday night meeting:
Passed by a 3-2 vote a third reading of a proposed leash law ordinance to restrict dogs and cats in Poland Municipal Forest. The amendment would require the pets to be caged or on leashes no longer than six feet in areas east of Butler Trail, which is about two-thirds of the forest, and calls for $100 fines per violation. Pets, however, would not have to be leashed in the portion between the trail and Interstate 680.
Received a request for a $500 donation from Joanne Eiselsteinand John Scotford Jr., both members of Towne One Streetscapes. Eiselstein and Scotford said the nonprofit organization needs the money to help defray costs associated with public performances licenses required to show outdoor movies in the village during the summer. For three years, Streetscapes has helped run Yellow Duck Theater, a series of 12 films shown between May and August near the Poland branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. A license that costs between $150 and $350 is needed to show each movie, Eiselstein noted. Councilman Robert Limmer said he wants to see the organization’s financial statements for the past few years before making a recommendation.
