CLAUDIA HOERIG Chronology


Claudia Hoerig is accused in the March 12 shooting death of her husband, Karl Hoerig, and then fleeing to her native Brazil. Investigators were able to track her whereabouts:

March 15: Police were sent to the couple’s home at 64 W. Ninth St. in Newton Falls after they had not been seen in a few days. They found his body covered with a painter’s tarp. A neighbor told police that Claudia Hoerig was seen leaving the home March 12 in a silver BMW.

March 16: The BMW was located by investigators at the Pittsburgh International Airport. Claudia had taken a flight to LaGuardia Airport in New York City and got a ride to John F. Kennedy International Airport for a flight to Brazil.

March 31: A county prosecutor’s investigator talks with Claudia’s sister, Simone, through an interpreter by phone in Brazil. When told what had happened to Karl Hoerig, her sister responds: “So it’s true what Christina [Claudia] told me.”

April 2: A county prosecutor’s investigator makes a call to Brazila, Brazil, and speaks with Claudia’s father, Antonio Jorge Sobral, through an interpreter. When informed his son-in-law had been killed, Sobral didn’t ask any questions.
