Rank achieved

Andrew G. Jacobs, a son of Mike and Bernadine Lucansky Jacobs, formerly of Youngstown, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at a court-of-honor ceremony.

Andrew is a member of Troop 146, chartered to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in the Erie Shores Council in Toledo.

His Eagle Scout service project benefited the Good Samaritan Outreach Center in South Toledo. The center provides meals and clothing to the needy in the area.

Andrew raised the needed funds from seven businesses and recruited a team of 13 volunteers to build a food pantry. The center’s basement also was cleaned and painted and now can be used for storage of larger items. The outside of the 1896 building also was painted. A total of 126 hours went into the project.

Andrew earned 29 merit badges and is the recipient of the World Conservation Award, the Light of Christ Roman Catholic Award and the Parvuli Dei Roman Catholic Award. He has been in Scouting for 12 years.

Andrew is a senior at St. John’s Jesuit High School, where he is a member of the Ambassador Society serving as a core team member. He is a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

His grandparents, Andrew and Elvira Lucansky and Mary Jacobs, live in Youngstown.
